The Gambler
Strutter

mixed technique on paper, 24" x 17"
(unfinished)
... this painting has been cut into two completely separate works. The other work is now the portrait titled "Cinema Daze). Although it initially began as one work, I found that the images worked far better as two distinctly separate works...
... on the surface, it appears to be a roughly depicted female form, however the alternate title of this work "It Comes in All Sizes", better describes this work's deeper symbolism. This painting examines the temporal nature of news, in particular how current conflicts are presented by mainstream media and how today's conflicts soon become mere footnotes in tomorrow's memory. The title "It Comes in All Sizes", examines how wars are only truly remembered when they somehow touch our lives or communities personally.

... this painting has been in the private collection of Mr. V. Kasputin, of Victoria, British Columbia since September of 1999. It is an eerie work, originally intended to be exhibited along with two other paintings in a similar style and theme.
